Minimally Invasive Laser Prostate surgery, also known as Laser Prostatectomy or TURP surgery or Transurethral Resection of Prostrate, is a surgery to remove part of the prostate gland. It is done to treat a condition of enlargement of the prostate gland. Laser surgery for enlarged prostate is done by passing special viewing fiber-optic device and instruments transurethrally (through the tip of penis) and does not involve any incisions. The procedure involves removal of the section of the prostate blocking the urine flow and improves the flow of urine through the urethra, the tube that carries urine from the bladder outside of your body.
TURP is one of the most effective options for treating an enlarged prostate, a condition also known as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
